Common patterns
Families use different arrangements, including alternating weeks, 2-2-3 rotations, alternating weekends, and schedules built around school routines.
No single pattern works for every family. Consider the children’s ages, school location, work schedules, travel time, and each household’s practical capacity.
Make changes visible
Put the repeating pattern in the shared calendar, then add exceptions for holidays, school breaks, appointments, and agreed changes.
Use a request when a change affects the other household so the proposed and agreed arrangements remain clear.
